Requirements

What you need to run Orbit Monitor, and how it's licensed.

Orbit Monitor is coming soon

Orbit Monitor is in pre-release (version 0.2.0) and hasn't launched yet. The requirements and pricing below describe the product as planned and may change before release.

Platform

  • macOS 14 or later.
  • Apple Silicon Mac.
  • High-quality headphones for binaural monitoring.

Plugin formats & standalone

Orbit Monitor runs both inside your DAW and on its own:

  • PluginAU, VST3 and CLAP formats. Insert it on your immersive (7.1.4) bus.
  • Standalone app — route any audio in for binaural immersive monitoring. Because macOS has no system audio loopback of its own, you'll typically use an internal routing driver such as BlackHole to send your DAW or player output into Orbit Monitor.

DAW compatibility

The plugin works with any macOS host that loads AU, VST3 or CLAP, including:

  • Logic Pro
  • Pro Tools
  • Ableton Live
  • Nuendo

Orbit Monitor is macOS only — there is no Windows build.

Head tracking

Head tracking is optional. It works with AirPods Pro and AirPods Max, or with any webcam via Apple Vision face tracking (camera access required). See Features for detail.

Pricing

Orbit Monitor is a one-time purchase — no subscription.

  • £79 (inc. VAT).
  • Education £49 — for verified students and teachers.
  • 14-day free trial — try the full product before you buy.
  • 2 machine activations — run it on, for example, a studio Mac and a laptop.

One-time, not a subscription

Your licence covers 2 machine activations. Deactivate a machine to free up a seat if you change hardware.
