Requirements

System requirements

  • macOS 13 Ventura or later, on a Mac with Apple Silicon.
  • Aro installs from a signed, notarised disk image.
  • An audio output device. Live Speakers monitoring needs a device with 3 or more output channels; stereo and Orbit Binaural work on any device.
  • An Orbit Spatial account. See Licensing.

File requirements

Aro reads WAV files (including RF64 and BWF) and .amb files.

  • Ambisonics of 1st to 7th order: 4, 9, 16, 25, 36, 49 or 64 channels, in one file. Channel format AmbiX (ACN / SN3D), N3D, or FuMa (up to 3rd order, where FuMa stops).
  • First-order Ambisonics as four mono files (W, X, Y and Z): open them with Combine.
  • Mid-Side (2 channels), Double Mid-Side (3 channels) and A-format (4 capsules), as one file or as separate mono files. See Mid-Side & A-format.

Aro doesn't read plain stereo mixes, ADM, IAMF or other formats.
